👨🎓 ITEM 11.a REVISING GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS: The board will have a first reading of revisions to its policy on high school graduation requirements. According to the agenda, the action is meant to: “Clearly define units allowed of outside high school coursework towards graduation credits and expand the school day of eleventh grade students.” According to the revised policy, students must earn a minimum of 220 units to graduate from LAHS. Requirements account for 150 of the units and the remaining 70 units are student elective choices. The policy now states “No more than 40 credits of outside high school coursework may be allowed to count towards credits of graduation requirements. All outside coursework must have prior approval.”
The revised policy also states that students grades 9-11 must be enrolled in at least 6 courses each semester. Five of the courses must be on campus. Under the revision, only students in 12th grade can be enrolled in only five courses and four must be on campus. Previously, students in 11th grade could be enrolled in five classes.

💰 ITEM 11.d BUDGET PRESENTATION: The board will hear an update on the district’s finances with the presentation of the 2025-26 Second Interim, 2025-26 Revised Budget, and Certification of Financial Condition. According to the report, the district’s budget has a “positive certification” meaning the district will meet its financial obligations for the current and next two fiscal years. But the report also acknowledges the district is deficit spending. “The district recognizes the deficit spending in the current budget year due to declining enrollment, and is aligning staffing with enrollment in the subsequent years,” reads the report. The board will have to vote to adopt the report.
