Centralia Elementary School District Celebrates Recognitions

The Centralia Elementary School District (CESD) proudly announces that three outstanding leaders and partners have been recognized by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) Region 17.
Superintendent Ms. Norma E. Martinez has been named Superintendent of the Year, Maria Lopez has been named Confidential Employee of the Year, and Creating Creators has been honored with the Partners in Educational ExcellenceAward.
These recognitions celebrate exemplary leadership, service and partnership thatpositively impact students, families and the broader school community.
Superintendent of the Year: Ms. Norma E. Martinez

For the past decade, Ms. Norma E. Martinez has led CESD with vision, integrity and an unwavering commitment to student success. Under her leadership, the district has strengthened academic performance, expanded mental health and student support services and implemented innovative programs such as STEM Design Thinking Labs across all school sites.
CESD consistently outperforms state averages in English Language Arts, Mathematics and Science, reflecting her data-driven approach and commitment to instructional excellence. Schools within the district have earned prestigious recognitions including National Blue Ribbon School honors, America’s Best Schools Awards and CSBA Golden Bell Awards.
Ms. Martinez is widely respected for her collaborative leadership style, strong partnerships with cities and community organizations and steadfast focus on equity and access for all students.
Confidential Employee of the Year: Maria Lopez

Maria Lopez serves as an Administrative Assistant in the Education Services Department. She exemplifies integrity and dedication, playing a critical role in ensuring district programs operate smoothly and efficiently.
Known for her commitment to service, Maria consistently goes above and beyond to support students, families and staff. She has volunteered her time for numerous district and community initiatives and was recognized by Assemblywoman Young Kim in 2015 for exemplary service in aiding a child in distress. Her leadership ensures that students receive access to programs andservices that support their well-being and academic success.
Partners in Educational Excellence: Creating Creators
Creating Creators, led by Polo Munoz, has transformed expanded learning time across CESD schools through innovative, hands-on filmmaking and creative design programs within the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP).
Students collaborate as writers, directors, editors and producers, building confidence, communication skills and creativity throughout the year before showcasing their work to families and community members at a red-carpet film premiere. This dynamic partnership has led to increased student engagement, improved ELOP attendance, and a strengthened connection to school.
ACSA Region 17 represents educational leaders across North Orange County and recognizes individuals and organizations that exemplify excellence in public education.
